Especially after a 3 hr trek and you couldn't complete the mission. Don't want to waste 3 hrs to see someone made a stupid mistake. And I know it very well: I make stupid mistakes all the time.
Nooo dying business, please. Respawn with penalty is perfectly fine.

could always swap it to...
'sucks harder than a dyson that has just had its filters cleaned
and yeah, i have done that experiment myself, and if you have a high dust filled filter and clean it, you realy notice the increase in sucking for cleaning up dust and dirt covered stairs...(did this at work, have a witness )

I gotta disagree with you there. Evaluate the number of deaths you yourself have at any given point in the game. Compare to others at equivalent levels. See other player with 600 more deaths than yourself. Look for party members elsewhere.
Someone sacrificing themselves that much for the benefit of the group.....err....thanks but no thanks.

That's just silly - I have characters with which I've been careful, and others with which I've tried stupid soloing missions and such. PvP on a PvE character racks up the /death count unless you are godly. My warrior has 1 death with 15 hours or so of play, but I haven't really done anything dumb, while my necro played around with a suiciding build for a while.
Because nobody cares if you die or not I feel free to die - if you introduced a way to judge people base on it it'd be silly.

Dude... you /do/ know that PvP deaths count... right? Hence that lvl 10 next to you with 600 more deaths might have been in PvP for the last 30 hours for all you know.

Ok, I see a lot of critics; no good idea. The idea behind my suggestion is this. The way it now works favours fun-playing, the gamer who is at first interested in having a good time (getting killed? no big deal). I admit that this is a good point (the game should not loose this). But the game-system also favours a kamikaze way of fighting; you can push through by attacking over and over again. After all, the ennemies you have killed aren't resurrected.
I would like to see that inteligent playing is better honoured; a gamestyle where you try to outsmart the ennemy instead of outgun him. A lot of people complain about PUG. In fact they are complaining about their fellow-gamers who do stupid things. I think overall gameplay will improve if people are encouraged to good playing. This game is set up to be played by teams and that good teamwork is a serious part in having succes. If getting killed brings a serious penalty, people will think over their actions, plan, coördinate, instead of rush in and see who comes out alive.

Perhaps applied in part this could be interesting. Get rid of the Rez Shrine in PvE and if your ENTIRE team dies you restart in town [like the missions]. This will add some extra incentive for people to bring their rez spells

Does anyone remember explorable areas without the rez shrines? That was what the Oct WPE and the November (and Decemer?) BWEs were... that made exploring interesting certainlly... I personally never made it to the Temple of Ages as the Undead were more than enought to kill me... Making it to Farmer's market (hotsprings now) was quite the accomplishment at that time as well... So while the rez shrines may be a tad excessive in the explorable areas, it has certanily made the game palyable, where before one aggro mistake could wipe you out before you could make it to map-point or outpost.

Look at what the Guild Wars pack says.
It's about skill, not about hours played.

Reminds me of something I truely hated when playing Diablo2
"Oh look I died... hmm now to get back there and collect my stuff... whee... someone stab me in my right eye with a rusty nail please!"
This idea is ranked way up there with the alltime worst ideas of GW.
I love the challange of being in a mission, only one member left alive in the group... surounded by enemies. Can he use his rez without being killed? Will we make it?
If I get killed (which happens a lot) and I lose everything I gained before I died... my anger at GW for implimenting this would sadly be taken out on my innocent computer and monitor.

i think they could organize it like diablo 2, where you could opt to have a "hardcore" character, where 1 death=permenantly fatal; that would be an interesting addition to GW. only rather than perma dead, you impliment this idea; since getting insta-killed is not that hard in GW.

This is just a plain bad idea that I would never wish to see implemented in Guild Wars, ever.
If you wanted hardcore death, go play Diablo II hardcore.

I think I will have to echo this skill.
I love D2 and all, but why buy GW if it was just D2 with better graphics.
